Cultivation method
Sow directly in the ground as soon as the soil can be worked, from spring to fall . Soak seeds in lukewarm water for 12 hours before sowing to improve germination. Plant 1/2” (1.3 cm) deep , spacing plants 1 to 4” (2.5 to 10 cm) apart and rows 8 to 12” (20 to 30 cm) apart . This radish appreciates well-drained, fertile soil and regular watering to prevent it from becoming stringy or prickly.
Harvesting and storage
Harvest about 25 days after sowing , when the roots are well developed and firm. To prolong their freshness, cut off the tops and store the radishes in a perforated bag in the refrigerator at 1-2°C , with a humidity of 85-90% . They will keep like this for 3 to 4 weeks .
Long-term preservation methods
Freezing: Grate or slice the radishes, then blanch them quickly before freezing.
Pickles: Marinate radishes with vinegar, sugar and spices for a crunchy, tangy touch.
Dehydrating: Dry the slices to make chips or use as a seasoning in dishes.
Thanks to its heat resistance , its sweet flavor and its rapid growth , the Radish 'Sora' is a must for a productive and delicious vegetable garden all season long!
