Dill 'Greensleeves' ( Anethum graveolens ) is a compact and slow-growing variety , ideal for a prolonged production of tasty leaves . Cultivation method
Direct sowing in spring , as soon as the soil can be worked. Sow the seeds 0.5 cm deep , spacing the plants 18 cm apart and the rows 24 cm apart. Germination in 10 to 21 days at 18°C . Exposure in full sun , in light, well-drained and moderately moist soil. Dill reseeds spontaneously , guaranteeing a long-lasting presence in the garden .
Harvesting and conservation
Harvest the leaves once the plant is well established, up until flowering . The entire plant can be harvested as needed. For seeds , wait until the seed heads turn golden brown before cutting and drying them.
- Fresh leaves : keep for a few days in the refrigerator.
- Dried leaves : Hang the stems upside down in a dry place, then store in an airtight jar.
- Seeds : once completely dry, store them away from light and humidity for prolonged use.
