Fertilize lightly and frequently, never let plants run out of water. Seeds can be sown directly in the garden in late spring. We suggest starting seeds indoors 5 weeks before transplanting in late April/May. When the heads begin to form, gather the large outer leaves and tie them over the head to prevent them from fading from sunlight. Harvest the head when it reaches 17-20cm (7-8in) in diameter – cut off the entire head using a sharp knife.
