Sow seeds outdoors in mid-to-late May, then every two weeks until June, or start them indoors and transplant them once danger of frost has passed. Oregano can be grown indoors on a sunny window or under lights during the winter. Outdoors, oregano is a low-maintenance and prolific plant, all you really need to do is provide water as needed. Thrives in bright, warm sunny gardens.
Feed lightly with a general all-purpose fertilizer, as too much can harm the production of the essential oils responsible for flavor and aroma. Oregano is grown for its leaves and flower clusters.
