The “Mémé de Beauce” tomato has a very unique history. In 1995, nearly 300 unidentified tomato seeds were discovered in a house abandoned for several years in Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce. After consultation with neighbors, there had not been a vegetable garden at this address for more than 60 years. Mr. Gérard Parent inherited the seeds and germinated three of them, but the plants could not be identified by the specialist Antoine D’Avignon.

This exceptional tomato which has been named “Mémé de Beauce” is distinguished by its production of enormous tomatoes which weigh almost 1 kilo each, sometimes more! The fleshy, multilocular fruits are covered with a thin pink to red skin. Well-ripe fruits have soft flesh that works wonders in juice and coulis. The plant has good resistance to powdery mildew and measures approximately 90 cm to 2 meters in height. The indeterminate growth plant must be supported so as not to break under the weight of the fruits. Very rare!

Number of days for harvest: 80 to 95
