Select a sunny site with well-drained organic soil. Sow directly in late May when the soil has warmed. Cover the seeds lightly with soil and keep them moist until germination, which occurs in 5 to 10 days. Space the plants 10 to 14 inches apart once they are 3 inches tall to allow them to fully develop.
For an early start, sow seeds in mid-March 6mm deep in peat pots or Jiffy 7's. Maintain a germination temperature of 22°C. After germination, grow on at 15°C until ready to transplant outdoors in late May.
Bring subtle shine and long-lasting blooms to your garden with 'Ice Queen' zinnia, a variety that embodies both beauty and performance.
