Yellow Swiss Chard ( Beta vulgaris) – proposed by WH Perron
Yellow Swiss chard is a vibrant variety that brightens up your gardens and dishes with its bright golden petioles and bright green foliage. With a sweetness comparable to spinach, it is ideal for diversifying your recipes, from fresh salads to stir-fries. Highly nutritious and rich in vitamins and minerals, this Swiss chard is easy to grow and adapts well to both beginner and experienced gardeners.
Spread : 30 to 40 cm
Plant height : 30 to 60 cm
Quantity per pack : 125 seeds
Companion plants : Garlic, carrot, bean, cabbage, onion
Enemy plants : Beetroot, cucumber, corn, melon, potato, tomato
Cultivation method:
Sow directly into the ground early in the season, in rich, loose, well-drained soil. Space the rows 45 cm apart and thin the plants to 30 cm to allow them to develop fully.
Ensure regular watering to maintain light soil moisture, but avoid overwatering. Grow in full sun to partial shade for best results. Harvest outer leaves first to encourage continued production throughout the season.
The tender young leaves are perfect in salads, while the mature leaves and petioles add color and flavor to cooked dishes such as stir-fries and gratins.
Yellow Swiss chard is a great option for gardeners looking to add a splash of color and nutrition to their vegetable garden and meals.
