The white pine is an iconic Canadian conifer and Ontario's provincial tree. Known for its soft, long needles and graceful form, it matures to an impressive height of 20–35 m in the wild. This fast-growing tree thrives in sandy loam soils but tolerates various moisture conditions, excluding saturated ground. Its straight-grained wood is prized for cabinetry, finishing, and construction. A vital ecological asset, it provides shelter and food for many mammals and birds.

How to Grow:
Seed stratification occurs naturally outdoors during winter. Direct sow seeds in autumn at a depth of 6 mm to take advantage of this process. Alternatively, stratify seeds indoors by mixing them with a damp, sterile peat-based medium, placing them in a ventilated bag, and refrigerating them for 12–20 weeks. In spring, plant the seeds in a sheltered, well-drained spot. Once seedlings are well-rooted, transplant them to their permanent location.
