Honeydew melon 'Honeycomb' (Cucumis melo) – offered by Seed Company WH Perron
Honeycomb is an early and tasty variety that produces large, round, heavy fruits, weighing between 3 and 3.5 kg. Its smooth skin hides a soft, fragrant and sweet lime green flesh, ideal for summer salads or fruity desserts. This melon combines flavor and practicality, perfect for gardeners looking for a generous and refreshing harvest.
Spread : 1.2 to 1.8 m
Plant height : 30 to 40 cm
Quantity per packet : 10 seeds
Companion plants : Dwarf bean, marjoram, corn, okra
Enemy plants : Swiss chard, potato
Cultivation method:
Start seedlings indoors about 3 to 4 weeks before the last frost, using individual pots to reduce stress when transplanting. Transplant to the garden once the risk of frost has passed and the soil is warm (at least 68°F).
Plant melons in rich, well-drained soil in full sun. Space plants 4 to 6 feet apart to allow room for spread. Water regularly and evenly to encourage fruit growth, but reduce watering as fruit nears maturity to maximize sweet flavor.
Harvesting takes place about 75 days after transplanting, when the melon easily detaches from the stem and gives off a sweet fragrance. With the honeydew melon 'Honeycomb,' enjoy abundant harvests and sweet fruits that will enrich your summer meals with freshness and deliciousness.
