Cultivation method:
Sow directly in the garden or container as soon as the soil can be worked, or start indoors 4 to 6 weeks before the last frost. Plant seeds 1/4 inch deep in well-drained, organically rich soil. Space plants 8 to 10 inches apart in the row and leave 12 to 16 inches between rows to ensure good air circulation and promote healthy growth.
Water regularly to maintain soil moisture, and mulch to control weeds while retaining moisture. Harvest outer leaves as needed or the entire head when lettuce reaches maturity.
