For planting in rows, sow seeds 4-6" (10-15cm) apart and thin to 8-12" (20-30cm) once plants have emerged. Space rows 22-30" (55-75cm) apart. For good pollination, plant at least 3-4 rows side by side. Alternatively, sow 3-4 seeds per hill, spacing hills 12" (30cm) apart.

Use a general vegetable fertilizer when planting and ensure regular watering to maintain even soil moisture. Plant only when soil temperatures are at least 18°C, which can vary from mid-May to early June depending on your local climate. Keep weeds under control to maximize growth and production.
