Description

Spinach 'Viroflay' (Spinacia oleracea), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds

Spinach 'Viroflay' is a classic variety known for its smooth, easy-to-clean leaves that are resistant to mildew. Adapted to a variety of climates, it is also resistant to heat-induced bolting, making it an ideal option for spring, summer and fall crops. Its rapid growth allows for multiple harvests of small, nutrient-rich, dark green leaves, ready to eat in just 30 days.

Days to maturity: 30 to 45 days
Leaf size: 6 to 8 inches
Height: 10 to 12 inches
Spacing: 12 to 14 inches
Sowing: Indoors / direct
Exposure: Full sun / partially shaded

Cultivation method:

Sow 'Viroflay' spinach seeds 1/2" (12 mm) deep and 1" (2.5 cm) apart in rows 12-18" (30-45 cm) apart as soon as the soil can be worked in spring. Thin out plants after germination to 2-3" (5-7.5 cm) spacing. For continuous production, sow every two weeks until late spring.

To extend the season, plant again in mid to late August for a fall harvest. This spinach thrives in full sun but tolerates partial shade, especially in warm regions. Keep the soil well-drained and water regularly for optimal growth.

Perfect for gardeners looking for a versatile and hardy variety, 'Viroflay' spinach offers generous and tasty harvests throughout the cool and warm seasons.

An ideal choice for nutritious and easy to grow leaves!
