Cultivation method:
Direct sow into well-worked soil in spring or start indoors a few weeks before last frost. Sow 1/8" (3 mm) deep in rows 18" (45 cm) apart. Repeat sowing every two weeks for a continuous harvest. This variety prefers rich, well-drained soil and a steady supply of water for optimum growth.
Harvest whole heads by cutting at the base, just below the outer leaves. You can also harvest the leaves as they grow, leaving at least 1" (2.5 cm) of the base to encourage new growth . 'Costa Rosata' lettuce thrives particularly well in cool weather, while tolerating moderate summer conditions without losing its eating quality.
