Red Salad Bowl Red Leaf Lettuce (Lactuca sativa), offered by Weston Seeds
'Red Salad Bowl' lettuce is an attractive variety that produces loose, leafy heads of a deep red colour. Its deeply lobed, tender leaves make it an excellent choice for salads, whether as baby leaves or mature leaves. Heat tolerant, it is slow to bolt while retaining a mild, non-bitter flavour, even in summer.

Cultivation method:
Sow seeds as soon as the soil can be worked in spring, 3 mm (1/8") deep and in rows 45 cm (18") apart. Repeat sowing every two weeks for a continuous supply throughout the season. This lettuce prefers a well-drained, organically rich soil and benefits from regular watering to maintain consistent moisture.
Harvest young leaves for delicate salads, or wait until they are mature to enjoy fuller heads. Cut the leaves back to about 1" (2.5 cm) above the base to encourage new growth. Although the red coloring is more intense in cooler weather, this variety tolerates summer temperatures very well.
A lettuce as beautiful as it is tasty!
With its dark red leaves and exceptional resistance, 'Red Salad Bowl' is an essential lettuce for vegetable gardens and gourmet plates. Suitable for all seasons, it offers a generous and versatile harvest.
