Hybrid winter squash 'Ceres' F1 (Cucurbita moschata) proposed by the seed company WH Perron

The 'Ceres' F1 squash is a butternut variety ideal for regions with a short growing season. It is distinguished by its precocity and its ability to produce uniform fruits of 1.6 to 2 kg. Its vigorous plant, with a wide vine, is tolerant to powdery mildew (white), guaranteeing a successful crop. Its dark orange flesh, tasty and nutty, makes it an excellent candidate for your autumn recipes.

Sow directly in the garden when the soil temperature is at least 16°C and there is no risk of frost. Plant the seeds 2.5cm deep, spacing the plants 1.5-2m apart to allow them to fully develop.

Rich, well-drained soil is essential for optimum production. Add compost or organic fertilizer to ensure vigorous growth. Water regularly and deeply, especially during the fruiting period.

Harvest the fruits when their skin is uniformly beige and their texture is hard to the touch. Store them in a cool, dry place to prolong their shelf life.

'Ceres' F1 squash is an excellent choice for butternut squash lovers, combining productivity, flavor and ease of growing, even in cooler climates.
