Description

Buffalosun F1 tomato ( Solanum lycopersicum ), offered by the seed company WH Perron

Buffalosun F1 tomato combines the appearance and flavor of an heirloom tomato with the performance of a modern variety. This vigorous, productive indeterminate plant produces orange-red fruits that are marbled on the inside, sweet in flavor, and tender in flesh without a mushy texture. Buffalosun offers excellent yield, good tolerance to late season blight, and fruit that is less prone to cracking. This variety won the 2020 AAS Regional Award for its exceptional qualities.

Sow seeds indoors about 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Maintain a temperature of 72-80°F for optimum germination in 7-14 days. When seedlings are 2-3 inches tall, transplant them into individual pots to encourage further development.

Transplant them to the garden after the last frost, in rich, well-drained soil, and in full sun. Provide stakes or a cage to support the plant and its heavy fruits. Water regularly, being careful to avoid wetting the foliage, and fertilize every two weeks with a tomato fertilizer.
