Cultivation method:
Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost, in a light, well-drained potting soil. Maintain a temperature of 72-80°F (22-26°C) for best germination. Transplant seedlings into the garden or pots when all risk of frost has passed, spacing them 2-3 feet (60-90cm) apart to give them plenty of room.
Plant them in organically rich, well-loosened soil in full sun. Beefsteak tomatoes require regular watering, but be careful to avoid excess moisture which can encourage disease. Stake the plants to support their growth and harvest the fruits when they reach a beautiful pink color and are slightly firm to the touch.
