Sow seeds indoors 8 to 10 weeks before the last frost, in a light, well-drained potting soil. Maintain a constant temperature of 25 to 28°C to encourage germination, which usually occurs in 7 to 14 days. Transplant seedlings outdoors when the soil is warm and all risk of frost has passed, in a location with full sun. Plant 30 to 40 cm apart to allow for good development. Water regularly, but not excessively, and add a high-potassium fertilizer to encourage abundant fruiting.
