Cumin (Cuminum cyminum) – Offered by the seed company WH Perron

Cumin seeds are prized for their intense flavor, reminiscent of caraway but with a more pronounced taste. Used as a spice in soups, breads, and many recipes, they are also a key ingredient in curry powder. Cumin requires warm conditions, and it is recommended to start growing in a greenhouse for best results.

Cultivation method :

Start seedlings indoors in a warm, sunny spot about 4 to 6 weeks before the last expected frost. Use a light, well-drained potting soil and sow seeds 1/4 inch (0.5 cm) deep. Transplant seedlings in the garden once the soil has warmed, spacing them 20 to 30 cm apart.

Cumin prefers rich, light, well-drained soil with full sun exposure. Maintain moderate moisture and avoid overwatering to prevent disease. Harvest seeds when flowers turn brown and pods begin to dry, then leave -dry them completely before storing.

Bring authentic, aromatic flavor to your cooking with this easy-to-grow plant, ideal for sunny gardens.
