Oriental Garlic Chives ( Allium schoenoprasum) – offered by seed company WH Perron
Oriental garlic chives are perennials with flattened, grayish-green leaves and a distinct garlic flavor. They are not harvested until their second year, but are easy and sustainable to grow. For continued production, cut regularly to within 1 inch of the ground. The leaves keep well frozen, extending their usefulness in cooking.
Maturity: Perennial
Plant height: 30-40 cm
Spread: 30 cm
Quantity per pack: Approximately 200 seeds

Companion plants: Carrot, celery, cucumber, gherkin, strawberry, tomato
Enemy plants: Eggplant, ground cherry, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, squash
Cultivation method:
Sow directly in the ground or start indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost. Plant seeds 1/4 inch deep in well-drained soil, spacing plants 8 to 12 inches apart. Chives prefer a location in full sun to partial shade, with soil rich in organic matter.
Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, especially during hot spells. Once established, this perennial requires little maintenance and will regrow vigorously after each cutting. Protect plants from hard frosts to prolong their life.
Add Oriental Garlic Chives to your vegetable or herb garden for a tasty and aromatic harvest. Ideal for enhancing your dishes, it is perfect for salads, sauces, marinades and other culinary preparations.
