The 'Imperial Star' artichoke is an ideal variety for home gardeners. Each plant produces between 6 and 8 uniform and tasty artichokes, measuring between 7 and 10 cm in diameter. Easy to grow, this variety will add a gourmet touch to your vegetable gardens and your plates

Maturity after transplantation : 120 days
Spread : 80 cm
Plant height : 100 to 150 cm
Quantity per packet : Approx. 20 seeds
Color : Green
Formulation : Untreated
Companion plants : Beetroot, tomato, lettuce, bean
Enemy plants : Tarragon, parsley, peas, salsify

Cultivation method :

Sow indoors 8-12 weeks before the last spring frost in 8cm peat pots. Harden off young plants gradually in May, then transplant into the ground after danger of frost has passed to a depth of 4-6cm. Add mulch to the base of the plants to keep the soil warm and moist.

The artichoke prefers a humus-rich, well-drained, fresh, healthy and deep soil Plant the plants 80 cm apart in the row and leave 1 m between the rows Water regularly, because the artichoke is a water-hungry plant Avoid excess water to prevent root rot and do not wet the leaves when watering to limit the risk of mildew

Harvest artichokes when the buds are green, tight and before they begin to open. The central bud ripens first, followed by the smaller side buds.

Add the 'Imperial Star' artichoke to your vegetable garden for generous harvests and a tasty vegetable, ideal for enriching your meals with a touch of elegance and freshness.
