Cultivation method:

Sow seeds directly outdoors from early May to June when soil temperatures are between 50-60°F (10-16°C). Fall plantings are possible in hardiness zones 6 and 7. Plant in double rows 10" (25 cm) apart, with seeds spaced 2.5" (6.5 cm) apart and buried 1/2 to 1" (1.25 to 2.5 cm) deep.

You can also sow in 120 cm (48") square blocks, spacing the seeds 6.5 cm (2.5") apart. To prolong harvests, sow successive seeds every 10 to 14 days. Maintain even soil moisture during germination to avoid uneven emergence.

Once flowering begins, water regularly to support pod production. Harvest pods daily as they mature to maximize flavor and encourage new pod formation. Maintain rows well and limit the presence of other legumes in the vicinity to avoid pests.

A versatile and nourishing culture!

Chickpeas are a great option for gardeners looking to grow a nutritious and easy-to-maintain legume. Ideal for enriching your fresh meals or for storing as a dried bean for later consumption.
