Cultivation method:
Sow seeds directly outdoors in mid to late May in a sunny site with average soil quality. Plant seeds 1/8 inch (3 mm) deep, 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart. Once established, thin to maintain 12 inches (30 cm) spacing between plants.
For an earlier start, start seeds indoors 4 to 6 weeks before the last expected frost date. Use a soilless growing medium and maintain a temperature of 20°C (70°F) during germination, which takes 7 to 10 days. After germination, grow on at a slightly cooler temperature before hardening off for transplanting outdoors once all danger of frost has passed.
