Cultivation method:

Start seeds indoors about 10 weeks before the last expected frost date. Soak seeds in water overnight before sowing to maximize germination. Sow seeds 1/4 inch (6 mm) deep in rich potting soil and maintain a constant temperature of 80°F (27°C). After germination, continue to grow seedlings at a slightly cooler temperature of 72°F (23°C).

Gradually harden off plants before transplanting outdoors, once all danger of frost has passed. Plant in full sun in fertile, organic soil. Space each plant 24 inches (60 cm) apart and leave 36 inches (90 cm) between rows. Water regularly to maintain even moisture and apply a low-nitrogen fertilizer to encourage fruit development.

About 3 to 4 weeks before the first fall frost, pinch off new flowers to allow the plant to focus its energy on ripening existing fruit. Harvest fruit when it is a bright light purple and slightly firm, but does not spring back when lightly pressed.

An elegant and tasty heritage eggplant!

The 'Violetta Di Firenze' eggplant combines aesthetics with refined taste. Its large, round fruits with delicate colors are perfect for a multitude of recipes, from grilled dishes to parmigiana. Easy to grow and very productive, this Italian variety is a must-have for gardeners and chefs looking for a tasty and decorative eggplant.
