Cultivation method:

Indoor sowing:

Start asparagus seeds in spring, 10 to 12 weeks before the last frost. Soak the seeds in water for 2 days before sowing them 1 inch (2.5 cm) deep and 5 inches (12.5 cm) apart. Maintain a consistent temperature and well-drained soil to promote germination.

Thin seedlings to 6 inches (15 cm) apart when they are about 3 inches (7.5 cm) tall.

Replanting:

Replant seedlings or one-year-old roots in mid-spring of their second year. Space plants 18 inches (45 cm) apart in rows and leave 40 inches (1 m) between rows. Work generous amounts of composted manure into the soil to a depth of 12 inches (30 cm) before planting.

Harvest :

Wait until the third year after sowing to begin harvesting regularly. The first two years, take only a light harvest to allow the plants to fully establish themselves.

Interview :

Each spring, add a generous amount of compost and manure around the plants to support their long-term growth and productivity. Keep the soil well-drained with an ideal pH between 6.5 and 7.5.
