A Riot of Colors for Your Gardens

Violet 'Mixed Colors' ( Viola cornuta ), offered by Semences OSC.

Enjoy the timeless beauty of the 'Mixed Colours' violet, also known as Johnny Jump-up or Horned Violet. With delicate flowers that are slightly larger than pansies, these plants are ideal for extended blooms throughout the summer, even in sun or partial shade. Tolerant of heat and drought, they grow to a height of 15 to 30 cm and re-seed easily to beautify your garden year after year.

Plant height : 15-30 cm
Quantity per pack : Approximately 140 seeds (750-1,000 seeds/gram)
Companion plants : Lobelias, alyssums, pansies
Enemy plants : Saturated or poorly drained soils
Suggested Uses : Borders, rockeries, planters
Plant Type : Short-lived perennial, often grown as an annual

Cultivation method:

Sow directly in the garden from spring to autumn or start indoors 10 weeks before the last frost. Sow seeds 3mm deep in a soilless mix and keep at 20°C in the dark to encourage germination in 7-14 days. Then grow on at a cooler temperature before hardening off and transplanting. Plant them 15cm apart in the garden.

To prolong their bloom, prune the plants in mid-summer, which will encourage new growth and a new flush of flowers in late summer and early fall.

Add a touch of grace and color to your outdoor spaces with these hardy, easy-to-grow violets.
