Cultivation method

Sugar pea 'Sugar Magnolia' is easy to grow in full sun or partial shade , in light, well-drained soil enriched with compost . It is sown directly in the open ground as soon as the soil can be worked in spring , 4 to 6 weeks before the last frost , as it tolerates cold well. Sow the seeds 2-3 cm deep , in rows 40 cm apart, and install a strong trellis as soon as growth begins, as its long stems can reach up to 2 m in height . Regular watering is essential, especially during the flowering and pod formation period, but be careful not to soak the soil to avoid root rot. Harvest begins in 65 to 70 days , when the pods are well formed and still tender and crisp . To prolong production, pick them regularly.

Use and benefits

In addition to being delicious, they are rich in fiber, vitamins A and C and plant protein , making them a healthy and nutritious food.
