The ground cherry , also called Cape gooseberry , is a vigorous plant that produces small golden fruits enclosed in a thin papery envelope . Its unique flavor, both sweet and slightly tart , is reminiscent of a cross between pineapple, mango and tomato. Delicious fresh, in jam, baking or dried , it is also rich in nutrients and easy to grow.
