Cultivation method:
Easy to grow, Sunflower 'Summer Moon' prefers a full sun location with well-drained soil. Sow directly outdoors in late May, 6-12mm deep, spacing seeds 7.5-10cm apart. Once seedlings have emerged, thin or transplant to space plants 30-45cm apart.
For an early start, start seeds 2 to 3 weeks before the last frost indoors in peat pots or Jiffy 7's at 70°F. Plant hardened-off seedlings outdoors after danger of frost has passed. Maintain even watering and fertilize twice during the season with a 15-5-15 granular fertilizer or equivalent. Germination takes 7 to 10 days.
