An Explosion of Colors in Summer

Scarlet flax seeds (Linum grandiflorum var. rubrum) , offered by the seed company OSC.

Native to North Africa and Southern Europe, Scarlet Flax is a hardy annual that self-sows readily. Its vibrant red flowers contrast beautifully with its dense green foliage, reaching a height of 45cm. Ideal for fast and long-lasting summer colour, Scarlet Flax offers continuous flowering from late June to August, making it particularly striking in beds.

Spread: Up to 20 cm.
Plant height: Approximately 45 cm.
Quantity per pack: Approx 200 seeds/pkt.
Companion plants: Cosmos, California poppies, baby's breath.
Enemy plants: Plants requiring constantly moist soil.

How to Grow:

Sow indoors in mid-April in a soilless mix, using peat pots to prevent transplanting. Cover the seeds lightly and keep at 20°C for 5-10 days to germinate. Once germinated, place under lights at a slightly cooler temperature before hardening off and transplanting to a sunny spot. Alternatively, sow directly outdoors in mid-May or late autumn. Space the plants 20cm apart for a neat appearance in gardens.

Scarlet Flax is perfect for creating gardens bursting with color with minimal effort. A great option for dry soils and sunny climates!
