A Festival of Colors for Your Garden
Russell hybrid lupin seeds (Lupinus polyphyllus x hybrid), offered by the OSC seed company.
Bring a burst of colour to your garden with these beautiful perennials, prized for their flower spikes in a range of two-tone hues: blue, red, pink, white, yellow and blue/white. Adapted to moist soils in full sun or light shade, they grow to a height of 60 to 90 cm and are particularly spectacular in clumps. Hardy to zone 5, they prefer coastal or lake-effect microclimates for better longevity.
Spread: Varies depending on the plantation.
Plant height: 60-90 cm.
Quantity per pack: Approx 40 seeds/pkt.
Companion plants: Shasta daisies, peonies, foxgloves.
Enemy plants: Plants preferring calcareous soils.
How to Grow:
Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours before sowing. Sow indoors in a soilless mix 6-8 weeks before the last frost date, maintaining a cool temperature of 60°F (16°C) for germination in about 20 days. Start seedlings under light before hardening off and transplanting to a sunny or lightly shaded location. Direct sowing in autumn is also recommended for flowering the following year.
A perfect choice to brighten up your outdoor spaces, these mixed lupins offer breathtaking flowers and an elegant look, ideal for cottage-style gardens.
