Red Ace Beet: Sweet Flavor and Versatile Harvest

Red Ace Beet (Beta vulgaris), offered by OSC Seeds

The 'Red Ace' beet is an outstanding hybrid known for its round, deep-red roots and exceptionally sweet flesh. Its red-veined leaves are not only visually striking but also delicious when cooked as greens. With excellent heat resistance, quick maturity in 50 to 55 days, and a prolonged harvest period, this variety is perfect for continuous growing throughout the season.

Spread: Final spacing of 7 to 10 cm after thinning
Plant height: 30 to 45 cm (foliage)
Packet size: Approximately 125 seeds
Companion plants: Carrots, onions, lettuce
Incompatible plants: Spinach, potatoes

How to Grow:

Sow seeds 1.2 cm deep and 2.5 cm apart in rows spaced 30 to 45 cm. For continuous harvests, sow every two weeks once the soil reaches 7°C, until mid-July. Thin seedlings to 7–10 cm for proper root development, and use thinned plants as tender greens. Avoid overwatering to maintain root sweetness and quality. Germination occurs in about 10 days.

The 'Red Ace' beet is perfect for gardeners seeking a versatile, delicious harvest, excellent fresh or pickled.
