Pole beans require support structures such as trellises, fences or bamboo teepees that are well anchored to prevent collapse during the season. Sow seeds 1 inch deep and 3 inches apart in well-drained, organically enriched soil. Ensure good watering, especially in dry weather, and avoid handling leaves when wet to reduce the risk of disease. Germination occurs in about 10 days.
