Alyssum saxatiles - A Bright Yellow Beauty for Rock Gardens

Alyssum saxatiles, also known as Rock Madwort and offered by OSC Seeds, is a compact alpine perennial that brings a burst of vivid yellow to rock gardens and borders. Native to Turkey and Central Europe, this hardy plant thrives in well-drained, sunny soils. Its grey-green foliage adds a touch of refinement, while its vibrant blooms from May to June brighten rocky landscapes and retaining walls. Hardy to Zone 4, it’s an excellent choice for challenging environments.

How to Grow:  
Start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost in a soil-free mix. Maintain a temperature of 20°C for germination, which typically takes 5 to 10 days, then move seedlings to a cooler space (15°C) under lights. To improve germination, moisten seeds and pre-chill for 10 to 15 days before sowing. Harden off young plants before transplanting them outdoors in sunny, well-drained locations.
