Lavatera 'Mixed Colors' – An Explosion of Hibiscus Colors in Your Garden
Lavatera seeds (Lavatera trimestris), offered by the seed company OSC.
This spectacular annual heirloom brightens gardens with its hibiscus-like blooms in a mix of vibrant colors. Each bloom, up to 3 inches across, covers the bushy, branching plants all summer through fall. Preferring full sun, Lavatera also tolerates partial shade and thrives in cooler climates. Growing to 3 feet tall, it is a perfect choice for borders and beds. In areas with hot summers, sow every two weeks to ensure continuous blooms.
Spread: 60 cm.
Plant height: 90 cm.
Quantity per pack: Approx 50 seeds/pkt.
Companion plants: Cosmos, zinnias, sweet alyssum.
Enemy plants: Plants requiring constantly moist soil.
How to Grow:
Sow directly into the garden in early to mid-May, 3mm deep and space plants 30cm apart. For an early start, start seeds indoors in a soilless mix 6 weeks before planting out. Germinate seeds at 21°C in about 7 days. After germination, grow on under lights at a cooler 15°C, harden off, then transplant outdoors in late May. Once established, avoid moving plants due to their tangled roots.
Add a touch of timeless charm to your garden with Lavatera 'Mixed Colours'. Ideal for colourful beds, it adapts easily and offers impressive flowering throughout the summer season!
