Lavatera 'Loveliness' – A Burst of Pink Colour in Your Garden
Lavatera seeds (Lavatera trimestris), offered by the seed company OSC.
This heirloom variety produces spectacular hibiscus-like flowers up to 3 inches in diameter. Also known as annual mallow or rose mallow, Lavatera covers its bushy, multi-branched plants with gorgeous pink flowers all summer and into fall. Ideal for cooler climates, it grows to about 3 feet tall and thrives in full sun but tolerates partial shade. For continuous blooms in warm climates, sow successions every two weeks.
Spread: 60 cm.
Plant height: 90 cm.
Quantity per pack: Approx 50 seeds/pkt.
Companion plants: Cosmos, zinnias, sweet alyssum.
Enemy plants: Plants requiring constant humidity.
How to Grow:
Sow directly into the garden in early to mid-May, 3mm deep, spacing plants 30cm apart. For an early start, start indoors in a soilless mix 6 weeks before planting out. Seeds will germinate in about 7 days at 21°C. After germination, grow on at 15°C under lights, harden off, then transplant outdoors in late May. Once established, avoid moving plants as Lavatera develops a dense root system.
Lavatera 'Loveliness' is a spectacular choice for a garden in bloom all summer long. A real beauty to attract attention and brighten up your outdoor spaces!
