Cultivation method

Sow indoors 8-10 weeks before last frost . Good light is essential for successful germination. Transplant outdoors once temperatures are mild enough.

Plant 6 mm (1/4") deep , spacing 30 to 38 cm (12-15") between plants and 45 to 53 cm (18-21") between rows . Statice tolerates poor soils well and prefers well-drained soil in full sun . It requires little water and is drought tolerant.

Harvesting and drying

Harvest when the small individual flowers are fully open and colorful . To dry, cut the stems in the morning, tie into small bunches , then hang upside down in a dry, dark, well-ventilated place. After 2 to 3 weeks , the flowers are ready to be used in dried bouquets or decorative arrangements.
