Cultivation method

Kohlrabi 'Purple Vienna' can be sown indoors 4-6 weeks before planting out for a quicker harvest. To improve germination, it is recommended to soak the seeds in warm water for 12 hours .

It can also be sown directly in the open ground after the last frosts. Space the plants 10 cm apart and the rows 30 to 45 cm apart to allow them to develop well. This variety tolerates cold well and is perfectly suited to autumn crops.

Harvesting and conservation

Harvest when the bulbs are 5 to 7 cm in diameter , before they become woody and fibrous . Cut the bulb at the base and remove the leaves to optimize its conservation.

Fresh kohlrabi will keep for up to 3 weeks in the refrigerator , ideally in a perforated bag.
