Cultivation method
'Provider' beans thrive in well-drained, light, fertile soil with full sun exposure. They tolerate cooler temperatures than other beans, allowing for earlier spring plantings .
Before sowing, soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 6 to 8 hours to encourage germination, but do not exceed this time to avoid deterioration. Sow directly after the last frosts, 2 cm deep , spacing the plants 3 to 4 cm in the row and 12 cm between rows .
For a continuous harvest , it is recommended to sow every 3 weeks until mid-summer.
Harvesting and conservation
Pods are harvested when full, well formed and still tender , about 50 days after sowing . Frequent picking stimulates production.
For long-term storage , beans can be blanched and frozen, or left to dry on the vine to be harvested as dried beans.
