Organic 'Yellow Wonder' Strawberry ( Fragaria vesca ) – offered by Gaia, a golden alpine strawberry with an exquisite taste
Native to Europe , the 'Yellow Wonder' strawberry is an alpine heirloom variety distinguished by its elongated, pale yellow fruits with a very sweet and fragrant flavor. Unlike traditional red strawberries, this variety does not stain , making it perfect for children and fresh fruit lovers.
Thanks to its compact and low growth , it adapts equally well to garden containers, pots and borders , while offering a generous harvest from the first year if sowing is carried out early. It does not produce stolons , which makes it an easy plant to maintain and ideal for small spaces .

Cultivation method
Sowing should be done indoors, 6 to 8 weeks before planting . To maximize germination, it is advisable to cold stratify the seeds for 2 to 4 weeks by placing them in the refrigerator before sowing.
Sow in a light, well-drained substrate , covering the seeds very lightly as they require some light to germinate . Germination can be irregular and take between 5 and 20 days . When hardening off the seedlings , reduce water and nitrogen intake to promote balanced growth.
Space plants 45 to 60 cm apart, giving them a sunny to partial shade exposure . The 'Yellow Wonder' strawberry appreciates well-drained soil and moderate watering , especially during the flowering and fruit formation period.
Harvesting and conservation
Fruits ripen about 4 to 6 weeks after flowering . To prolong production, it is recommended to harvest every three days .
Fresh strawberries can be stored for 3 to 5 days in the refrigerator , without being washed. For longer storage, they can be frozen whole for about 2 months , or made into jams and coulis.
