Cultivation method
To promote good germination, soak the seeds in warm water for 12 hours before sowing. Sow directly in open ground as soon as the soil can be worked in spring , as spinach tolerates cold very well and grows best at temperatures between 12 and 15°C .
It is also possible to carry out a fall crop , by sowing in late summer or early fall for a late harvest. Space the plants 5 to 10 cm apart and leave 60 to 90 cm between rows for good air circulation. Moderate and regular watering helps maintain vigorous growth without excess moisture.
Harvesting and conservation
Leaves can be harvested young , by cutting 2 cm above the ground , or more mature for a meatier texture. To prolong production, it is recommended to harvest gradually by cutting the outer leaves first.
Washed spinach will keep for up to 10-14 days in the refrigerator in an airtight bag, at low temperature and high humidity. It can also be blanched and frozen for longer storage.
With its rapid growth , good cold tolerance and excellent taste quality , 'Bloomsdale Long Standing' spinach is a must-have variety for lovers of leafy vegetables rich in flavor and nutrients!
