Cultivation method
Sow indoors 10 to 12 weeks before planting. Transplanting is highly recommended for good plant development. Transplant into the ground 2 to 3 weeks before the last frost date. Caution: celery can go to seed prematurely if temperatures drop below 12°C during the day and 4°C at night . Prefer rich, cool, well-drained soil , with regular watering to avoid bitterness of the stems.
Harvesting and conservation
- Harvest gradually by cutting the outer stems to prolong production.
- For more tender, sweeter celery , tie the leaves together to blanch the stalks naturally.
- Store at 1-2°C with 95% humidity for up to 2 weeks , wrapping in a damp cloth to prevent drying out.
