The 'Fleur de Réagir' tomato is a unique and robust hybrid variety, born from a chance cross in the greenhouses of the RéAgir association in France. Its ribbed and generous fruit is reminiscent of a flower when cut, adding a spectacular touch to dishes. With its firm flesh and well-developed heart, it is ideal for stuffing. Its rich taste, balanced between sweetness and acidity, makes it a variety appreciated by lovers of fleshy and tasty tomatoes.

Cultivation method:

Sow seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost, at an ideal temperature of 22 to 26°C. Transplant into the ground after the last frost, spacing the plants 60 to 90 cm apart. This vigorous variety appreciates a rich, well-drained soil, full sun exposure and good staking to support its large fruits. The harvest extends from July to October, guaranteeing a regular and abundant production.

🍽️ Recipe: Tomatoes Stuffed with 'Fleur de Réagir'

Ingredients :

  • 4 large ‘Fleur de Réagir’ tomatoes
  • 300 g minced meat (beef, pork or mixture)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1/2 cup cooked rice
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese (optional)

Instructions :

  1. Prepare the tomatoes : Cut the tops off the tomatoes and carefully hollow them out with a spoon. Keep the pulp and the "caps" of the tomatoes.
  2. Prepare the stuffing :
    • Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until translucent.
    • Add the ground meat and brown it.
    • Stir in cooked rice, reserved tomato pulp, parsley, egg, salt and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Stuff the tomatoes :
    • Fill each tomato with the stuffing.
    • Sprinkle with grated cheese if desired and replace the caps on the tomatoes.
  4. Cooking :
    • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
    • Arrange the stuffed tomatoes in a baking dish.
    • Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, until the tomatoes are tender and the stuffing is cooked through.
