The Yellow Bode is a Brazilian chili pepper as rare as it is tasty . With its fruity, sweet and slightly smoky taste , it is a key ingredient in Brazilian cuisine. Despite its small size (about 1.5 cm in diameter) , it offers a moderate heat of 30,000 SHU , ideal for enhancing salsas, soups, sauces and marinades . When ripe, its fruits turn from green to golden yellow , bringing a bright touch to the garden as well as to the kitchen. Very productive , it offers an abundant harvest that will allow you to enjoy its unique flavor throughout the season.

Cultivation method

  1. Sowing indoors: Sow seeds in early March , about 8 to 10 weeks before the last frost .
  2. Germination: It can take 10 to 45 days , with an ideal temperature between 25 and 30°C .
  3. Transplanting: When the seedlings have 4 to 6 true leaves , transplant them into larger pots before acclimating them to the outdoors.
  4. Planting in the ground or in a pot: After the last frost, space the plants 30 to 40 cm apart in rich, well-drained soil. In a pot, choose a container at least 25 cm in diameter with good drainage.
  5. Maintenance: Water regularly without soaking the soil, fertilize every 2 to 3 weeks with a balanced fertilizer and mulch to retain moisture.
  6. Harvest: About 90 to 120 days after sowing , the fruits turn from green to bright yellow and can be harvested when fully ripe.
