Description

Hot pepper 'Sugar Rush Striped' (Capsicum baccatum) , Offered by Les Gardiens - Ferme Alternative

Sugar Rush Striped is an exceptional and rare variety , resulting from a cross between Sugar Rush Red and Sugar Rush Peach . With its moderate heat of around 50,000 SHU , it seduces with its fruity and sweet flavor , bringing an exotic and intense touch to the mouth.

This variety is extremely prolific , offering a generous harvest throughout the season. The first flowers appear early , allowing for early production , then the fruits continue to develop until mid-season .

The peppers, about 10 cm (4 inches) long, range from pale green to peach and red hues, with unique stripes when ripe. Their ridged appearance and vigorous growth make them both an ornamental and productive plant.

Plant Height: Up to 1.5 meters (5 feet)
Spread: Medium
Quantity per bag: ISOLATED - 12 seeds
Scoville (SHU): 50,000
Companion plants: Tomatoes, basil, onions
Enemy plants: Fennel, beets

Cultivation method:

Sow seeds in early March , about 8 to 10 weeks before the last frost . Germination takes 7 to 14 days , with an optimum temperature between 22 and 28°C . When the seedlings reach 4 to 6 true leaves , transplant them into larger pots before acclimating them to the outdoors.

Plant them in the ground or in a pot , in rich, well-drained soil , with full sun exposure . Moderate watering and fertilization every 2 to 3 weeks will ensure optimal growth.

Plants reaching more than 1.5 meters often require staking , because their abundant production weighs down the branches .

The fruits begin to ripen mid-season , gradually developing their magnificent peach and red streaks , thus offering a harvest that is as aesthetic as it is tasty.

Pot culture: ideal for small spaces

Sugar Rush Striped can be grown in pots , provided you have a container of at least 10 to 15 liters , a sunny exposure of 6 to 8 hours per day and regular watering . Adequate fertilization will guarantee a harvest just as abundant as in the open ground.
