Outdoor cultivation

  1. Soil Preparation: Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Amend the soil with compost or manure to enrich the soil.
  2. Sowing indoors: Sow seeds 8 to 10 weeks before the last frost , in light potting soil.
  3. Germination: Maintain a temperature between 25 and 30°C . Germination takes 1 to 3 weeks .
  4. Transplanting: When the plants have 2 to 3 true leaves , transplant them into larger pots or into the ground after the last frost. Space the plants 30 to 45 cm apart.
  5. Maintenance: Water regularly without soaking the soil. Mulch to retain moisture and limit weeds.
  6. Fertilization: Apply a balanced fertilizer every 2 to 4 weeks to encourage flowering and fruit production.
  7. Harvesting: Pick the peppers when they turn a beautiful bright orange color, cutting them with scissors so as not to damage the plant.

Pot culture: ideal for balconies and small spaces

The Bode Orange grows very well in pots, which means it can be grown even on a terrace or balcony. A pot of at least 30 cm in diameter , with drainage holes, will ensure good growth. Use a light, well-drained potting soil , and place the pot in a sunny spot (minimum 6 hours of sun per day ). Remember to water regularly to keep the soil slightly moist without flooding it. Its compact shape and high productivity make it an excellent choice for growing in pots.

Additional Tips

  • Staking: The plants can become heavy with the amount of fruit, consider staking them to prevent them from bending under the weight of the peppers.
  • Pest monitoring: Monitor for the appearance of aphids or whiteflies , and treat if necessary with natural solutions such as black soap or nettle manure.
  • Harvesting: Cut the peppers with pruning shears once they are fully ripe to encourage continued production .

With its piquant heat and slightly fruity flavor , Bode Orange is ideal for spicy salsas, homemade hot sauces, and marinades . It can also be dried or fermented to make intensely flavored condiments.
