The Mme. Jeanette pepper is an exceptional variety originating from Suriname , particularly prized in Guyana and in Creole cuisine . Behind its elegant and bright appearance, with its elongated 8 cm fruits changing from green to bright yellow when ripe , hides a formidable heat that can reach 350,000 SHU .

Its unique taste, both fruity and slightly sweet , perfectly balances its burning intensity . Used mainly in hot sauces, marinades and traditional Creole dishes , it brings an explosive spiciness combined with an inimitable exotic touch .

The name Mrs. Jeanette comes from a popular legend in Guyana . It is said that a certain Madame Jeanette , known for her fiery temperament , inspired this pepper as fiery as her personality!

Cultivation method:

  1. Sowing indoors: Sow seeds in early February , about 10 to 12 weeks before the last frost .
  2. Germination: It takes 7 to 14 days , at an optimum temperature of 25 to 30°C .
  3. Transplanting: When the seedlings have 4 to 6 true leaves , transplant them into larger pots before acclimating them to the outdoors.
  4. Planting in open ground or in a pot: After the last frost, space the plants 40 to 50 cm apart in rich, well-drained soil. In pots, use a container of at least 7 liters .
  5. Maintenance: Water regularly without soaking the soil. Fertilize every 2 to 3 weeks with a balanced fertilizer.
  6. Harvest: About 90 to 100 days after pollination , the fruits turn their bright yellow color , indicating that they are ready to harvest.

Pot culture: ideal for temperate climates

The Mme. Jeanette grows very well in pots , allowing it to be brought inside in the fall and thus prolong the harvest. With full sun exposure (6 to 8 hours per day) and good fertilization, it will produce a good quantity of fruit even in a small space .
