This decorative squash is distinguished by its unique claw-like projections and its varied colors, ranging from cream, yellow, orange to green with stripes. Ideal for small gardens, this compact variety produces fruits about 10 cm in diameter. Squash can also be grown vertically to save space and make harvesting easier. Once the stems are brown and dry, the fruits are ready to harvest.

How to grow:
Direct sow seeds outdoors from late May to June in mounds 8 feet (2.4 m) apart. Plant 4–6 seeds per mound 1 inch (2.5 cm) deep. After germination (7–10 days), reduce to 3 plants per mound. You can also start seeds indoors 3 weeks before the last frost in biodegradable pots and transplant directly into the ground. Grow squash in rich, well-drained soil with a pH of 5.5–6.5. Protect ripe fruit from frost and cold temperatures.
