'Yellowstone' carrots prefer loose, deep, well-drained soil, free of stones to allow good root development.
Keep the soil moist during germination, which can take 10 to 20 days. Thin the plants to leave 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7 cm) between each carrot. Harvest the roots when they are 6 to 8 inches (15 to 20 cm) tall, after about 70 to 80 days of growing. Store them in a cool, dark place to prolong their freshness.
