Canada Columbine

The Canada columbine (Aquilegia canadensis), offered by Northern Wildflowers, is a hardy and versatile native perennial. Thriving in poor soils, from sand to rocky areas, this plant is well-suited for challenging sites like septic beds. Its shallow roots make it easy to transplant. Among the first to bloom in spring, its graceful yellow and orange bell-shaped flowers attract hummingbirds and bring vibrant color to gardens.

For successful germination, perform cold stratification by placing seeds in a moist substrate and refrigerating them for 6 to 8 weeks. Then, sow seeds at a depth of 1/8 inch. Alternatively, sow outdoors in the fall for natural germination. Position the plant in well-drained soil with partial to full sunlight to ensure optimal blooming.

Enhance your garden with the Canada columbine, a native perennial that attracts pollinators and thrives in challenging environments!
